UK Environment Research Council NERC backs 18 environmental science public engagement projects
Environmental engagement among citizens is proving to be a global hot topic, as scientific communities are liaising more with the public to foster a wider awareness of the importance of environmental conservation and the consequences of climate change.
The UK’s National Environment Research Council, NERC, recently broke the news that they are backing 18 environmental science projects focused on UK citizen engagement. NERC is backing the projects alongside leading environmental research organisations including the National Trust and the Bristol Natural History Consortium.
The projects will bring together targeted groups including volunteers, families and researchers to improve environmental dialogue, increase knowledge and develop skills.
The Scent project’s priorities parallel the work of these types of projects and we look forward to seeing networks on these themes develop at a pan-European level.
